Landscape - Real Counties Of Scotland

Many of the real counties of Scotland have histories in excess of 1000 years, carved out of the landscape by Saxon, Gael, Scottish and Norman administrators and monarchs. The local government reorganisation of 1973 superimposed new administrative units on an unaware population but the boundaries of the real counties cannot be altered by mere Act of Parliament. This is a section of IONA telling the story of our true counties.
